Galdor & Wortcunning
In this week’s community class I share some of the most interesting information (to me, anyways!) about the practice of Galdor and how it relates to Wortcunning and the healing arts. When we look at the ancient texts of healing, especially from the Anglo-Saxon herbal traditions, we see time and time again that charms, chants, songs, and spoken spells play a crucial role in both the ritual of healing and the efficacy of the outcome. Adding in the ways of Galdor truly supercharges pretty much any ritual practice- and as we cover in the class, it can even take the act of drinking a simple cup of herbal tea to whole new depths.
In the class I share two charms with you- one for general herbal healing and another for sleep. You can download charm cards below to print out and keep!
When we bring Galdorcræft into our Wortcunning practices, several things happen:
Our mind, emotions, physical body, and souls tend to align to one specific intention and goal- reciting Galdor also helps us stay focused!
We petition the spirits of our ways including plants, deities, ancestors, and land spirits in methods that they respond to and appreciate.
We mingle our own magic with that of the herbs.
We help to established trust in the person receiving the medicine so that their body will more readily receive and accept.
Galdor invites us to go more deeply into the ritual of herbal medicine- and whenever there is ritual, there is the aligning of intent, the gathering of energy, and the onboarding of our spiritual allies- win!
If this material is super exciting to you, I invite you to join me for the Wyrtcræft Course- this three-part certificate course will give you tools rooted in ancient Wortcunning practices that speak to our modern work with herbal medicine and herbal magic. Level One begins September 17, 2025 and registration is open now! You can take this course form anywhere in the world by joining us live online or by watching replay at your own convenience. I hope to see you there!
